John Blanche’s legacy reshaped the language of grimdark—and the Masterclass Series continues that journey. After exploring twisted beauty in Volume 1 and Volume 2, Volume 3 turns toward the colder edge of John Blanche’s imagination. These ten entirely new paints draw from chilly tones that haunt his iconic Blanchitsu style: moody blues, ghost-lit highlights, and frost-shadowed hues that feel both decayed and vibrant.
Developed in collaboration with John Blanche and engineered by The Army Painter’s design team, this palette expands the expressive range of grimdark painting. All-new Warpaints Fanatics acrylic colours bring icy ambience to your miniatures with the exceptional performance and quality you know and love. Additionally, two Fanatics Washes bring atmospheric depth. All this plus exclusive artwork by John Blanche makes this a must-have addition for your Masterclass collection.
Whether you’re painting frosted ruins, wandering spirits, or bleak winter battlefields, these paints help conjure narratives steeped in mystery. They invite you into an evolution of grimdark—to experiment, explore, and push into new storytelling spaces.
Cold doesn’t have to mean lifeless. In John Blanche’s world, it means possibility.
